Training Your Team on Cybersecurity

“The best defense is a good offense.” We’ve all heard this a time or two, but when it comes to cybersecurity it couldn’t ring more true. A cyber-attack can result in financial loss, business disruption and can be devastating to your firm’s reputation. Your employees are the weakest link against cybercrime – with over 95% of cybersecurity breaches occurring due to human error. The first step to avoiding cybercrime is to make sure you and your staff are aware of the methods that criminals use to get information. Social engineering, phishing and malware are highly targeted threats – all with the ability to trick employees into surrendering private data. Cybersecurity training will go a long way to creating a culture of data security in your business and can reduce the risk of a security breach.

Cybersecurity awareness training should be part of onboarding for every new employee, and should be regularly administered to your entire staff. Depending on your firm size, you can choose from online or self-paced training options or work directly with a cybersecurity consultant. There are many companies that offer this type of training – a few that we recommend are Astrid and KnowB4.

We’ve compiled a list of resources to help get you started in designing your cybersecurity training program.
