May 2012 SmartVault Service Update (12.102.125.1000)

The May 2012 SmartVault service update (12.102.125.1000) includes the following updates:

SmartVault Client Portal

This service update includes the following updates to the SmartVault Client portal:

  • Adds Recycle Bin capabilities to the SmartVault Client portal. Users in an account with an Individual, Team, or Pro plan can use the Recycle Bin to restore documents and folders that other users in the account may have accidently deleted. For more information about using the Recycle Bin, see Using the Recycle Bin.
  • Adds the ability to view and download previous version of a document in the SmartVault Client portal for users who have at least Read permissions to the folder where the document is stored. You can view previous versions of a document for any document uploaded to SmartVault on or after May 31st, 2012. For documents uploaded to SmartVault prior to May 31st, 2012, you will not be able to view and download previous versions of the document. For more information, see Viewing and Downloading Previous Versions of Documents in the SmartVault Client Portal.
  • Adds integration with Shoeboxed.
  • Adds link to the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook to the SmartVault portal under Resources in the right task pane. For more information about using the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook, see Using the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook.
  • Addresses an issue where, when exporting Activity Logs for a selected folder, the Activity Log for not just the selected folder, but for the entire vault that contains the folder, was exported. This issue has been addressed, and when you export the Activity Log for a selected folder, only the activities for the selected folder are exported. For more information about viewing Activity Logs, see Viewing Activity Logs.
  • Addresses an issue where there was sometimes a delay in displaying updated notification and access settings when clicking on a new folder. This issue has been addressed, and settings now update and display correctly.
  • Addresses an issue where a user who clicks Upload in the SmartVault Client portal without uploading a document could then send an email notification to another user in the account. However, when the user who received the email clicks the link in the email, the document does not display. This issue has been addressed, and users can no longer send an email notification if the document has not been uploaded.
  • Addresses an issue where, when SmartVault Affiliates signed in to the SmartVault Affiliate portal and then clicked Manage Administrators, an application error message displayed and SmartVault Affiliates could not manage administrators in their SmartVault Affiliate account. This issue has been addressed, and SmartVault Affiliates can once again manage administrators in their SmartVault Affilifate account.

SmartVault Desktop Software

This service update includes the following update to the SmartVault Desktop software:

  • Addresses an issue that some users in some accounts had where multiple copies of the same document were attached to a QuickBooks entries when using the SmartVault Toolbar. With some users in some accounts, after the user attached a document using the SmartVault Toolbar, the SmartVault Toolbar did not refresh to show that the document was attached. This resulted in some users attaching the same document multiple times to a QuickBooks entry. This issue has now been addressed, and SmartVault no longer allows users to attach multiple copies of the same document to an entry in QuickBooks.

SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook

This service update includes the following updates to the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook:

  • Addresses an issue where you could not change a document file name or description when uploading a document into SmartVault using the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook. This issue has been addressed, and you can now change the document file name or description when uploading a document.
  • Addresses an issue where some extended Unicode characters (for example, “Ôy, Ăre you serious?”) were not getting encoded properly in HTML. This issue has been addressed, and extended Unicode characters are now encoded properly.
  • Addresses an issue where there was a six second timeout setting that prevented files larger than about 6MB from being uploaded into SmartVault when using the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook. This timeout has been eliminated. However, SmartVault recommends that customers use the SmartVault Inbox for uploading files that will take over 10 minutes to upload (files about 60 MB or over, depending on upload speed). For more information about understanding and using the SmartVault Inbox, see Understanding the SmartVault Inbox and Uploading Documents Using the SmartVault Inbox.
  • Addresses an issue where the Upload Attachments button was not always enabled, even if attachments were present. This issue has been addressed, and the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook now correctly identifies all file attachments and enables the Upload button if attachments are present.
  • Addresses an issue where, when users had non-standard DPI settings (where DPI settings were greater than 96 dots per inch), many of the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook dialog boxes did not display correctly. All dialog boxes have now been updated to better support non-standard DPI settings, especially the most commonly used alternate settings of 125% of normal and 150% of normal (tested up to 144 DPI).
  • Adds official support for using the SmartVault Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook with Microsoft Outlook 2007 and Microsoft Outlook 2010 and Office 365.
