The Danger of Sharing Login Credentials

SmartVault is built on the idea that every employee user will have his or her own license – so like most software applications, it’s a violation of our terms of service to share login credentials. But more importantly, when you use someone else’s login credentials, you are creating a false audit trail and eliminating any accountability to sensitive files that would otherwise exist. Built into SmartVault is the ability to run an activity report, detailing who opened, viewed, downloaded or modified a file, and when. This is a critical component for maintaining compliance and detecting security violations – so if you are logged in as someone else, the information being recorded is not an accurate reflection of who initiated the activity.
