Jim Batten, EA and successful firm owner of Grewen Inc., a full-service tax practice, could not have been more praiseworthy about the personalized support he received from SmartVault. In a world of automated customer service lines, it’s hard enough to speak to a live person, let alone a company’s CEO. But, this is exactly what happened for Jim Batten.
“I was one of the many firms that made the transition to SmartVault in the last year from a long-standing DMS system. I could not be happier with SmartVault, but I’m most impressed with the service I received during the implementation period,” Batten said.
Batten admits that he did not sit through online training for SmartVault, but instead relied on SmartVault’s dedicated support department and his own determination to help him get the system up and running—and also accelerate his learning curve.
“I had a few problems getting going,” Batten recalled. “I needed someone to walk me through some things.”
Not a wallflower by any means, Jim Batten had no problem reaching out to SmartVault’s top-tier staff member for help—the CEO.
“I just emailed him, and he got right back with me. He was very patient with all of my questions on SmartVault and even showed me features in my Lacerte software that I didn’t know about.”
Batten offered a few examples of the help and valuable tips he received.
“I couldn’t get a client to import into SmartVault. I was introduced to the Copy feature in Lacerte, which made this task easy. I didn’t know that feature existed in Lacerte…I also had problems renaming directories in SmartVault to match the names I had set up in Intuit DMS. He [CEO] actually went into the system [SmartVault] and created a new administrator and helped me rename all of the directories. This level of support is so uncommon these days. I could not be more praiseworthy about the attention I received.”
Since initial implementation, Batten reports few problems. However, he states with confidence that when and if he does run into a challenge, he won’t hesitate to call the SmartVault team for a resolution.
Jim Batten operates a busy tax practice as a solo entrepreneur, and that means all tasks fall into his lap—including implementation of new technologies.
